Forged from the Ashes by J. Kearston

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

'Why settle for something as mundane as simply existing when you have the potential to be so much more?'

My first book by J.Kearston and I'm in love!
Forged from the Ashes is an action jam-packed paranormal romance reverse harem novel full of fun, snark and sweetness. But also steam and lots of gore.

'It takes more than blood to be a dragon.
You have to fight for everything you want in this world, then fight to keep it because there will always be someone that tries to take it away from you. In a world of nothing but predators, the only way to the top is to claw your way there.
You have to be the monster other monsters fear.'

And that's exactly what Ezra is trying to do. As the only female dragon in the region, she spent her life in hiding, sheltered by her brothers. Well, more or less sheltered that is because Ezra is neither coddled nor kept within the house. Her brothers made sure she can hold her own not only in the bloody games the dragons host every once in a while, but also against any idiot who might have the gall to try and get her.

As one of the very few female dragons remaining, Ezra must be ruthless to avoid capture. Be it blood or fire, she doesn't hesitate to use either of them. And she barely gives guys a second glance, because she's not interested in getting any mate.

Until the day three newbloods show up in her town. Fleeing for their lives, they bring the very trouble her family has protected her from to Ezra's door. And Ezra finds herself slowly falling for the three sexy dragons.
With her city threatened and her life turned completely topsy turvy, Ezra must choose her mates and reach a sanctuary to complete a sacred ritual before she becomes a danger to both herself and everyone around her.

Full of irreverent humor, snarky banter and laugh out loud moments, this action-packed page turner will have you chuckling in no time, as well as rooting for the characters.

Ezra is as badass as it gets! And the endearment of 'my psychotic angel' her mates occasionally mention is more than a perfect fit if you ask me. :D

'She's observant. Dangerous and fragile, guarded as well as all in. She's a walking contradiction that's the perfect balance.'
And the men 'admire the hell out of her for it.'

Beautifully fleshed-out characters with an incredible dynamic, fabulous family relationships, sweet gestures and awesome witty banter this book has it all. Alongside hot sex scenes and a hell lot of blood and gore. :)

I practically laughed out loud at the guys' attempts to keep a straight head despite the pheromones their little dragon tempted them with.
"Dead kittens, saggy grandpa balls, algebra."
And absolutely adored all each and every single one of the main MCs.
Fast-paced and nicely flowing, Forged from the Ashes is a unique and addictive tale with a refreshing take on dragons. Hoarding instinct included. And I must say I absolutely loved that!!

The action did become a little bit too overwhelming for me towards the end, and that is the reason I'm only rating it 4 stars. But then, that was just me and that may not be the same for other readers out there.

Bottomline, because I already held you to long, if you like dragons and paranormal romance reverse books, you have got to give Forged from the Ashes a try.

It is a real treat!

Happy reading everyone
