Goddesses Inc. by Bardot, Autumn

My rating: 5 divine stars

'Social media is ridiculous. You'd think the whole world lives and breathes on someone's posts and photos. Nothing of any real importance in the world can be achieved if mortals insist on dancing for followers.'

But what if social media does count?
Mnem has everything. A glamorous lifestyle, beauty, family, and immortality. But she doesn’t have a social media platform. Or followers. Or relevance. Which is why Mnemosyne, goddess of remembrance and mother of the nine muses, is fired. And 3 other goddesses find themselves in the same position.

Misery brought them together, misery is keeping them together. Mnemosyne, Inna, Phra Naret and Axtis must now figure out how to solve the problem of their newly gifted mortality.

After getting over their initial shock, they struggle with acceptance. After all, who would have though goddesses can be down-sized?!

Take the goddess of memory, wisdom and knowledge for instance. The world will always need her right?! Wrong! The world doesn't need her talents anymore. Because they have the internet.

So it is that, for the first time in their exceptionally long life, the goddesses were clueless about what to do. Absolutely, positively horrifyingly clueless. And they hated their new life.
They felt lost, with no direction and no reason to get up every morning.

'My life is over. I'm living on borrowed time. I've been dismissed, defunded, defrocked and disgraced. I've been thrown off the immortality cliff. Tossed in a mortal ocean with no life preserver.'

But slowly they realise they need to change themselves. With a bit of honest self-reflection, like a pointed arrow. 'The bullseye to their heart.' With quite a bit of anger, a good measure of determination and a hell lot of heart. They all reach the same conclusion.

'We'll reinvent ourselves. ...
We'll join today's hip new crowd. Be the In people.'

But not only that. To survive, the ex-goddesses will also need to get a job. An ordinary mortal job. And not just any job, mind. One that fills their soul. And all they need to do to achieve that is to figure out how to use their goddess gifts and serve again.
But can they? After all, they were failures with divine powers and immortality. How can they hope they'll be and do better as mere mortals?

As our four ex-goddesses struggle to find friendship, love, and purpose, mortals get in the way. Sexy, obnoxious and dangerous mortals. Mortals for whom they will NOT fall. Too bad their hearts don't want to listen. :D
If they'll succeed and how, I'll leave that for you to find out but know that their lives take an unexpected turn with an epic decision at one time. One with deadly consequences. And it's gonna be one hell of a ride!

Fast paced and beautifully written in a flawless prose, this book is a fun, laugh out loud, sweet and sassy tale that will also have you thinking about the beauty, meaning and purpose of your own life.

'If I have to die then I want to have achieved something. Be somebody. I want to have a life with purpose.'

What is important and what matters? What does it take for us to be happy? Autumn Bardot and her goddesses will make us all reflect on it, one way or another. The internal reflection and self-discovery of the characters, so beautifully done, will have each reader out there look a little bit inside their own heart too.
Fabulous characters that leap of the page with a wonderful dynamic; a unique and unusual plot that seamlessly mixes ancient mythology with modern technology, sass, fun and laugh out loud moments, suspense and drama, as well as love - this book has it all and more. It is empowering and inspiring and so very appropriate for our times.

'Mortality addled our brains.'
'No. It gave us more heart.'

If you are in a mood for a fun read full of meaning that's both timeless and unique, give this book here a try and you won't be dissapointed.
It's downright divine!

Happy reading everyone
and may all your wishes come true.
