Book Review: New Contact

My rating: 5 bright stars
Fast paced and full of vivid descriptions, this little novella here will take you on a tour of an intriguing and imaginative alien world with not only fascinating creatures but also an interesting moral dilemma.
Captain Melissa Shakeworth leads her crew to a new world to make first contact with a tranquil, nonviolent, advanced race of beings.
And human aggression meets the peaceful nature of an advanced race.
A race with a civilization... idyllic at first sight. But can something really be that flawlessly perfect?
Things quickly spin out of control during the encounter and one crew member’s volatility and aggressiveness goes too far, endangering both his life as well as the safety of the crew and the entire mission. Captain Melissa finds herself desperately trying to save his life as well as get her crew safely off the planet without leaving anyone behind.
Nicely flowing and beautifully written, this little sci-fi novella will have you turning pages till the very end and diving straight into the sequel. It is not perfect and could have perhaps done with a bit more background but still...
It's a great little read! Intriguing, suspenseful and with a good cinematic feel.
