Ice by Medley, Cin

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

'If something or someone stopped you, or tried to stop you from doing what your heart desires, how determined would you be to do it?'

Ice is a sweet, heartfelt and absolutely beautiful love story in between two broken people who slowly learn to heal each other.

Alison Hampton, Olympic Gold Medalist, suffered through a great tragedy that abruptly ended her skating career. A badly broken leg will not allow any skater to get back to the Olympics ever again. And that's what Alison had been told by each and every doctor out there. She would never be able to skate again. But Alison wouldn't listen. Skating was her passion and her dream. The only place she felt safe and alive was on the ice so she wouldn't even consider giving up. For years she struggled to even put her skates back on, because she was broken.

'She was broken and there was no way she was going to let it stop her.'

She wanted another gold medal. Not for fame and fortune, but for her own self worth. To prove to herself that even though she was told she'd never do it again, she WILL skate again at a competitive level because she could still do it!

So she keeps training until one day she even tries the impossible - a triple axel. Her body was in perfect motion, doing what it was programmed her whole life to do, but when she hit the ice, her leg buckled, sending her slamming into the boards. A crushing moment and yet, perhaps a perfectly fated one. Because that moment changed everything not only for Alison, but also for the man who witnessed it.

Kameron Broker happened to look through the window of the bar on top of the rinks, while hanging out with his friends after a game of amateur hockey. And he was stunned by poetry in motion. When his eyes locked with the woman on the ice, everything changed for him. Everything changed for her. And when she fell and hit the boards, he just had to run to her and make sure she was ok.

She full of fear. Him with a broken heart. Both unsure they can trust something that seems to good to be true. And both with a past that will come up to hunt them.
And that's how their love story starts. One full of gentleness and respect, sweetness and understanding.

Of course nothing is easy and they'll get quite a few drawbacks to face, but true love is long lasting if you have the courage to fight for it. And ultimately, this is what this tale is all about. The courage to face your fears and surrender your heart.

Ice is not one of those books full of twists and turns you don't see coming. The plot is pretty linear and yet, you'll find yourself reluctant to set it down. Not because of edge-of-the-seat action, but because of the feeling. Sweet gentle affection beautifully combines with hot steamy passion, longing and desire and gives us a charming love story that's any youngster's dream. Unfortunately however, that was a bit of a drawback for me. Being already passed the young love age myself, as well as hardened by a tough life, both characters and their interaction seemed a little bit too good to be true. But then, this is just me and I am convinced this love story will be a favourite of younger readers out there. Because Kameron is the gentle guy any girl would sigh for and Alison is a man's dream come true.

If you're looking for a lovely romance full of feeling, trust me when I say,
This ICE will melt your heart.

Happy reading everyone
and never loose heart.
