Book Review: Sean

Ain't gonna lie. Military romance is one of my guilty pleasures. Especially the steamy kind with broken heroes.
And this one seemed just perfect!
Did it live up to expectations?
Yes and no.
It does tick all the boxes for the perfect military romance:
- A strong and protective MC. The ex navy seal with a crushing guilt complex is just about the perfect man of few words and decisive action.
- A smart and brave FMC who risks everything to protect her sister's children,
- and a hell lot of hurt and insecurity between them.
- Two absolutely adorable kids you just want to hug
- a wonderful family and a ranch I'd drop everything to go and live on.
Then why did it not meet those expectations?!
Because the plot seemed to take a back step in favour of the relationship between the MCs and despite the beautiful HEA, more than a few things were left hanging, as if forgotten, while others were wrapped up too swiftly, without proper insight into character reasoning and motives.
Even though I loved the tenderness between the MCs, the relationship between them didn't really work for me. The chemistry was lacking, just as the tension. And I really wasn't a fan of the particular bit of drama towards the end.
And last, but not least, the promised sizzling part ended up being fizzling instead.
All in all, this was an ok read that can be also read as a standalone, despite being the conclusion of a series.
