A fabulous and quite original concept.

Kiss me I'm Undead delivers a unique take on vampires, zombies and ghouls. Action jam-packed from cover to cover it plunges the reader into an intriguing mystery from the very first page.



Kayla wakes up with a huge bruise on her neck, her fancy heels broken and no recollection of how she even got home. She suddenly has a new neighbor who's hot (but weird) and dead guys are popping up all over town, killed in an all-too-familiar way.
And then there is that little detail: Kayla seems to be very...very...hungry... For raw stakes that too.

What follows is a unique fast paced story in which Kayla vows to solve the mystery behind the sudden uptick in violence. Peppered with sassy comments and sarcasm, it does make the reader smile at times, but the story turns pretty dark and gruesome very fast. Gore, violence and even gruesome torture scenes - you'll find all of these within its pages.

I am one of those readers who really enjoy a dark and gruesome book; the darker the better. But for me, that violence needs to be countered or at least softened down, with either a relatable MC or something else that points out brutality is not all there is out there. And this is where this book fell a little short for me.

The MC is a sassy badass heroine who curses like a drunk sailor and puts a gruesome serial killer to shame. And it is perhaps because of this combination that I couldn't really relate to her. The violence both her speech and deeds conveyed, combined with the roughness and savagery of the story in general and some scenes in particular, left me with the general impression of a brutal read. Whatever compassion or gentleness was there in between the pages was much too less to compensate a bit, let alone even the scales.

And then there was the 'credibility' issue of some of those brutal scenes. The savagery seemed pushed over the line, which gave the whole scene an overall aspect of unreal.

All in all, an original story full of action, with a great pace and an unique twist, albeit full of gore and violence.
