for an awesome little read that any middle-grader will absolutely love.



Creats is the name the people of Earth have affectionately given to a wide variety of alien animal species, left behind by a peaceful alien race. The aliens left to rebuild their planet, leaving some of their creatures behind and this is how Earth had become the Creats new home.

Creats are greatly cherished and valued and it's become a tradition to try to catch and own them. But for that you have to be at least 12 years old. Only then you can be apply to become a Creats Hunter.

Becoming a Creats Hunter and having their own Creats has been the biggest dream of Greg and Jowan. One they are sure would never be fulfilled because their parents can't afford a Hunter's gear! So imagine their surprise when, the presents for their twelfth birthday turn out to be a complete Creats Hunter gear. And this is how their adventure begins! Greg and Jowan must prove their mettle and go train to become Creats Hunters, then set off on their own to catch their Creats.

How can two 12 year old's go and hunt alien creatures you ask?! Because the Creats are not like ordinary animals at all. They will bond with the human who catches them and speak straight into their mind. And best of all, the human is not the one doing the catching. It is the Creats that call to their special humans and allow themselves to be hunted and caught.

Fast pace and beautifully flowing, Creats is a light and absolutely enchanting read that both middle-graders and grown-ups may find quite difficult to set down.
First of all, the Creats are 'awesome' (I'm quoting my own middle-grader here. :D) We've got Pantherds and Doctopi, Scorpoids and Wickers, Snowls and Zeburrows, as well as many more. Our favorites were the Pantherd and the Doctopi and even 2 days after finishing the book, my boy is still occasionally sighing 'How cool it would be to have an Ash of my own!!'

Friendship and family, kindness and good deeds, self-doubt and bravery despite fear, they are all beautifully portrayed here. And these are thing I truly appreciated as a parent looking for an appropriate book for my child.

Exciting adventure with just the proper measure of suspense.
All sorts of fascinating creatures, one more exotic than the other.
Two perfectly normal seeming young boys any little explorer can easily identify with.
An easy to follow prose and a special irresistible charm.
Creats has it all!

If you're on the lookout for a 'cool awesome book' for your middle-grader Creats is a real treat. Your child will absolutely adore it!
And even as a grown-up, be warned!
You're likely find your lips curling in a smile at heartwarming family affection; or at lovely Creats' antics. And you may just want to reach within the pages to give a little disappointed 12 year old a big strong hug!
