Saints and Curses by Lantgen, Alexis
A lovely collection of fantastical short stories, each and every one of them distinct and completely different from the others.
Varying both in theme as well as in genre, these little short reads explore fantasy and magic from a wide variety of perspectives and settings. Some are humorous, others touching, some will make you tear up and others may even horrify you. But they will all leave a mark.
It is a testimony of this author's talent, that she is able to give us here so many contrasting tales. Different not only in tone, but also in message. And she pulls it off beautifully.
The characters were as defined as can be, considering the length of the tales and the settings nicely drawn. While some of the endings left me with an unfinished feel, I really did enjoy each and everyone of them.
My favorites were Grackle, Elven Carols and Cinnamon Ultra Pumpkinator, though the others were not bad either.
This was a very quick and very entertaining read and I will be definitely watching out for more of Alexis Lantgen's books.
If you enjoy short stories with a wide range of fantasy settings, magic and feels, Saints and Curses would be a perfect choice. The tales of this anthology are so varied, that there's bound to be something for each and every reader within their pages.
Happy reading Bookdragons!
